Starch based Adhesives are used on single facer machine for two ply formation. Assembly of these boards are done on the hand pasting machine or double backer with help of adhesives. One type of adhesive can be used for single facer and double backer applications with slight variation. A different adhesive is needed on the hand pasting machine. Adhesive at single facer should have high initial tack, quicker gelling and rapid bond forming properties to enable it to run at rated speed. Hand pasting machine require adhesive which will set faster at room temperature. Consistent and high performance adhesives are needed for achieving complete fiber tear. Drying time of the board after hand pasting is very important for faster production. Stardex offer Corrugation Powder ( Single Facer and Double Backer) and Pasting Powder in hot water and cold water solubility. Depending up on the applicatio ( GSM & BF) customer can choose water mix ratio from 1:2 to 1:5 resulting in varying solids between 16% to 33%. Viscosity of the glue is important parameter and is determined by working conditions of machine. For a given machine working conditions viscosity can be maintained at constant level irrespective of water mix ratio.
